Hey guys,

these are the ideas from the brainstorm session yesterday. Please add more to these...

1. set up projector - wacom tablets - kids drawing on walls while it is projected.

2. build cardboard structures outdoors. or tiny doll houses in the outdoor spaces.... project over it. but why are we doing this. Somone explain this to me. I need to know why??

3. easter egg colours - colour the pavement. veggie dyes mixed with rice flour which can be put on the pavements. I like this one.... yeahiieee!! well done kids...

4. chocolate gold coins - place in crop circle. kids eat chocoaltes, hand wrappers back to us so we can make golden egg with it and that egg is planted in park. You have to find it through a treasure hunt...

5. sound in the trees. synchronise the sounds to travel.. amongst trees.

6. dress up as an egg...

7. hang helmets off the trees to protect people. the tree that has the helmets will have a voice over of why we have it there.I like this one as well....

Come on hubert, cameron, callum, marc, everyone start blogging your ideas...

An Outside Artist TO BE OR NOT TO BE?

Dear Calvin and Hobbes,

It has been a crazy day full of empty spaces, goblins in the drawer and a wicked sorcerer saying 'ABRACADABRA' to my two year old nephew. Now, I am back writing about another important question -

Why we doing this? Why are we here? The WHAT IS ME DOING HERE?

...So, what am I, Spaceman Spiff, doing here, really?

As an outside artist, I most humbly perceive my role here as a Collaborator working towards amalgamating the unknown, the disparate and the undefinable. It is an opportunity to question the things that we take for granted, to question my fears, to encourage creative expression which is not guided by conventions, political agendas or commercial currents. This residency provides me with a chance to discover and develop thought patterns that will emerge through a scrutiny of the creative processes that evolve. I have already derived great insight from working closely with my co-comrades as we have had to maneuver through intentions, obstacles and philosophy as a composite.

The past few weeks have raised critical questions for each of us, while some have transformed into purposeful adventures acquiring artistic dimensions; the others continue to hang in voids of turbulent thoughts searching for intent. It is this experience which aids in the formulation of these questions despite the incognito. The continuos unleashing of energy and ideas which lends to the building of an unique dialogical space that generates space for self-cultivation within an ambience of collective enquiry is the flow that drives my quest. This constant oscillation between the meditative to the frantic is consuming and I reckon that often such processes appear as sublime though they have a vehement presence within.

I am guessing that it is this presence within, that helps us 'to be'  and also sometimes 'the not to be'. All in all, it has been proved that - 'In a Superlattice, the electrons are not accelerated without limit by a constant electric field but start to oscillate back and forth because of QUANTUM MECHANICS. Hence, using this Bloch oscillation it might be possible to construct a device that can produce high frequency THz radiation, which is not easy to produce by other means'....

hence, we must be proud that we have achieved the state of constant oscillation, now all we need to do is wait for the creation of THz radiation.... What say Calvin, I see that  Hobbes is already nodding in agreement with the ever accepting smile on the face...

Allrightie then... Cheers to the triad oscillators.

The Outside Artist's SYNDROME

My first blog while I restlessly wait in anticipation of what happens next....?

Here we are. Yes, here we are - three artists, mostly associated to as a nonchalant wave, a slight sense of distractive energy or maybe even a disease. Despite these views, we call ourselves "NOT NEGATIVE DISENGAGEMENT". There is a reason for this and hopefully, our blogs will lead one and all to understand the essence of the name we have attached to ourselves. Why am i doing this, leaving it vague and open and as if I am challenging the ability of thought?

It is because I value the action of thought - which is essential in deciphering the meanings that we hope to transfer through our writings. I have faith in the fact that the art of reading in between the lines still exists. I also fantasize about how intermingling thoughts can lead to the building of philosophical musings. So, here we go.. NOT NEGATIVE DISENGAGEMENT!

To begin with, I dedicate this blog to Calvin and Hobbes. (Again, no straight-forward reasoning for that one too.) So,

Dear Calvin and Hobbes,

Who are we?

It is my priviledge to be able to engage with the two of you and I feel the need to say THANK YOU for BEING in possibly the most effective sense of being that has ever existed. Though, we come from diverse artistic, social, cultural and geopolitical realities, yet there appear to be common concerns emerging from a connective humane ethos and the rapidly changing environments that surround us.

Particular issues like  violence, environmental abuse, cultural and national identity, gender and sexuality, difference and displacement have become resonant themes. Though, each of us have our own unique ways of conceiving and analyzing content - we strive to combine our personal perspectives, experiences and creative conceptualization to build an approach that has the ability to project the inherent value of collaboration in creation through the multi-disciplinary arts.

This is us, three POSITIVISTS, if I may say three children walking around in the skins of our adult selves who believe in HOPE and only aim to share that HOPE and JOY with all those who may or may not see it...

Signing off until next time which will be soon.

Love

Spaceman Spiff...
